A regional workshop on Flood Forecasting and Early Warning Systems on 23-27 November 2015 at Asian Institute of Technology Conference Center in Pathumthani, Bangkok. This workshop will mainly introduce the participants with the elements and requirements of an operational basin-based long-lead flood forecasting and warning system. The participants attending this workshop will be from South Asia region (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal). World Bank with support from Regional Institute for Multi-hazard Early Warning System (RIMES), has organized this workshop. Click here to see the photograph.

A team under the leadership of Engineer-in-Chief (North) Mr. Rajesh Kumar was on a study tour to the Netherlands to study the already established Levee/ Embankment Asset Management System of the Netherland in particular to strengthen the EAMS developed for Kosi from December 16, 2015 to December 23, 2015. The objective of the tour was to study the institutional set up for Research and Development work related to EAMS/Water Management/ Flood Management at the Netherlands.   Mrs. Arti Sinha, D.D. and Amita Singh, A.D. participated in a training program at Kathmandu conducted by ICIMOD from 2nd November to 6th November 2015. The training was on ‘Regional Flood Outlook and Flood Modelling’. The objective of training was to develop a Regional Flood Information System (RFIS) to support disaster prevention and flood management.
Training program on “Introduction to use of Modern techniques (RS & GIS) in Water Resources Management” was held from 2nd November to 26th November 2015 at FMISC. This training was imparted to the newly appointed Assistant Engineers of the department.

  Dr. Saroj Kumar Verma, Deputy Director, FMISC participated in a Round Table Discussion on ‘Agony of the Rivers : Floods in Bihar’ at Patna on 3rd September, 2015. Other officers from WRD, Bihar from Sinchai Bhawan also participated the discussion.
  A team of engineers along with Joint Director, FMISC and led by Chief Engineer, Planning and Monitoring cum Project Head, NHP attended World Bank Mission during 10-15 September 2015 at New Delhi. Wrap-up session was also attended by Secretary, WRD, Bihar.
  A two day Study Tour on 28-29 September 2015 was undertaken by four engineers from the department under the leadership of Chief Engineer, Planning and Monitoring cum Project Head, NHP at Pune, Maharashtra. They visited many RTDAS sites at different dams and data centre apart from discussion with WRD officers of Maharashtra.
